Zwaanshoek is a village located on the ring canal in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. The village owes its name to the arrival of numerous wild swans in the area as a result of reclamation. In recent years, the area has expanded with new houses and the village now has +- 1,835 inhabitants. A bridge connects Zwaanshoek to Bennebroek.
Zwaanshoek is quietly located between Bennebroek and Hoofddorp. The village is in fine connection with many arterial roads to, among others, Schiphol Airport. The village is surrounded by the Bose Islands and borders a beautiful park. In addition, Zwaanshoek has a close-knit community and the village is home to many families with children. The village has its own public primary school: De Zwanebloem. The village also has an active club life, including a tennis and volleyball club. Finally, a festival week takes place every year at the end of August.

Things to do in Zwaanshoek
Some 30 hectares of recreation area are currently being realised north of Zwaanshoek. The recreation area is located between the Ringvaart canal and the Spieringweg. The arrival of recreation area Zwaanshoek-Noord will form a link between the estate forests of the Binnenduinrand and the newly constructed forest areas of the Haarlemmermeer. Currently, the first phase has been realised. Among other things, a children's play forest has been created. In the future, cyclists, hikers and horse riders will be able to perfectly recreate in the area.
